I subscribe to Oceanic (Hawaii) Time Warner and have the 8300HD box.
One of the HD channels (local station) does not show any picture and another (another local station) only displays in SD. I am able to receive all other HD channels (approx. 6 others). Not sure what the problem is because the channel that has no signal used to work and the one with the SD used to be received in HD. I reset the box, but can't figure out what's wrong. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

Maybe that setting got screwed up somehow. Greg |

Greg I re-initialized the box for 1080i and 720p again and also tried the different settings on SET: PICTURE FORMAT, including AutoDVI/HDMI. Still no luck. |

You could also check the TW web site to see if they changed channels. Tam |

There is a way to get into diagnostics mode which will show the signal strength of the channel ... if the signal is too low the channel will go blank, macroblock, etc: http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...iagnostic+mode The avsforum is also a good resource: http://www.avsforum.com/ |

I did check with TW and they said that I should be receiving the signal. I will try the diagnostic to check the signal. If by chance the signal is weak, do you know what might be the cause and remedy? I hadn't made any changes to my system prior to this drop out. Thanks again. |

One way to diagnose a problem like this is to connect your cable box/tv directly to the cable connection at the side of the house, ie bypass all cabling in the house. I did this once, and found the problem remained, so TW came out and ran a test cable from their distribution pedestal to my house - problem remained so they had to do something further upstream. |

I had a cable problem here that got so bad that Comcast was unable to ping my cable modem. Turned out that the cable coming in off the pole was so corroded at the grounding block that the center conductor was black. Cut off about 6 inches, crimped on a new F connector (also replaced the grounding block) and everything worked fine. Tam |

Will be switching the cable box tomorrow. I'll let you know if this
solves the problem. |
