Default SAGEM HDL26TPC AXIUM TV RECEPTION

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A SAGEM LCD HDL26TP2 DIGITAL TV WITH BUILT IN FREEVIEW.
IT IS CONNECTED TO MY TERRESTRIAL AERIAL VIA A VCR.IN THE EVENINGS THE
SIGNAL CUTS OUT AT ABOUT 10PM MOST EVENINGS. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY RECEPTION
PROBLEMS IN THE PAST.
I ACCESSED THE TECHNICAL MENU ON THE TV AND IT SAYS THAT THE SIGNAL STRENGTH
IS 40% BUT THE SIGNAL QUALITY IS 98%.
OTHER INFO ON THE SCREEN WAS "Viterbi BER 1.0E-7" AND "C/N 24dB".
THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE VCR AND THE TV ARE JUST THE BASIC ONES PROVIDED
ON PURCHASE AND THE AERIAL IS NOT DIGITAL.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME ?

They may be able to, Graeme, but please, turn off your caps lock key,
this is the equivalent to shouting on usenet.

Do you have a time-clock on something that switches on at
that time? Or maybe a VCR programme that records then?

Freeview devices work better if they are first in line for
the aerial connection. Since this TV has a built-in
recorder, do you still need to record off-air on the VCR?
Check to see whether there is an RF out connector on the TV
- some IDTVs use that to feed a VCR.
