Descrambler Box

are there any good descrambler boxes for direct tv or dish network that
will let me view all the chanels? I know I must tell them that I have
the box. any links? what box do you use?

No. Unlike in Europe, where satellite broadcasters must use standards-based
technology and let you use your own choice of receiver box, here in America
the FCC has no such concerns for the viewers and lets the broadcasters force
them to buy proprietary closed-system receivers.

Therefore only a DirecTV box will work with DirecTV, and only a Dish box will
work with Dish.

(You can actually use a FTA box to watch a very small handful of channels
from Dish, such as NASA TV, since Dish does use DVB.)

The FCC has mandated that cable companies allow viewers to use their own
receivers along with a CableCard. I think that they should propose something
similar for satellite broadcasters (like the CI system in Europe, which is
very similar to CableCard, except it works with satellite).
