Default Standard screen or shortscreen (aka widescreen)?

Just about to buy a new tv set. To my astonishment there is no normally
sized TV sets on the shelves these days. What are my options? Do I buy
a "widescreen" and cut its sides off, or do I cut the drywall in order
to make it fit?

Drywall.

Definitely cut the drywall.

Don't forget to replace the kitchen cabinets while you're at it.

By all means, cut the sides off. Or, better yet, take the money that you
would be spending on a new set and flush it down the toilet, as you are
probably too stupid to even watch TV, let alone buy one.
