I have Tivo S2 connected to Comcast cable box. When I gp to Channel 1
on Tivo I get Comcast 'Video on Demand'. But neither my Tivo remote nor the Comcast cable box remote can be used to make the selections and activate the 'Video on Demand' programming. Any suggestions? |

Sounds like a problem with your cable box or cable box remote. Mine always worked fine. Once I got to channel 1 (with either the TiVo remote or the Comcast one) I'd use the Comcast one to navigate the On Demand "touchscreen". When I had what I wanted playing, I'd use the TiVo remote to tell the TiVo to record. Doug |

I used the Tivo remote to go to Channel 1 [Video on Demand]. Then I used the Cable remote to navagate the VOD touchscreen. It worked. What I did not do before was take off the cable box blindfold. I was trying to get the Cable box remote to act through the tivo box. So all is okay now thanks to your guidance. |

news:[email protected] What is a "cable box blindfold" and why are you using it? I'm gonna guess he referring to what's commonly called an "IR Fort". Basically to improve reliability of the IR Blaster, it's a small shield so that the only signals the cable box IR remote receiver can see are those from the TiVo IR Blaster. Back when I was using a standalone TiVo with a DiSH 2800 receiver I had to use one. |

I suppose that's something to block IR signals other that those from the DVR's IR emitter. Funny - I have a blindfold on my cable box, and I didn't mention it to you, because I never had to take it off ! Damned Comcast SuperRemote managed somehow to command the cable box right through it, or over it, or telepathically, or something. The blindfold did, however, do what I wanted it to do - reduce the number of misfires where the TiVo tells the Cablebox to go to channel 35, and the cable box goes to channel 3. Doug |
