hello,
ive read all about the Faroudja chipset and why its cool. Oppo seems to be the enthusiasts choice. is there any difference between the Oppo and say Samsung, or others which use the same chipset? one advantage i can think of is universal remote-control settings. thanks, matt |

The Samsung looked a little dark Love my Samsung HD960...not dark on my Sony XBR2 but it does have a picture adjustment menu for fine tuning if necessary. Lots of good info on the Oppo he http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...light=oppo+970 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...light=oppo+970 I bought the Samsung from Circuit City online...my choice was determined by the ability to return it to a local store if I didn't like it or there was a problem. The Oppo (AFAIK) is only available online. HTH, Bob "Keep the Democrats out of my pocket and the Republicans out of my bedroom" |

Faroudja has to my eye, the best up-conversion algorithm out there, their anti-aliasing is very good and very clean. I have players with both the Faroudja and the Sony imitation, the Faroudja wins hands-down for image quality. The rest of the stuff is just features. |

Don't forget about the new German Panasonic DVD-S99 and it's predecessor, the DVD-S97 late in UK but still available in US, IIRC. Both are excellent machines and very similar to Oppo but with HDMI instead of DVI interface. -- Rob £¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤øø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤øø¤º°`° º¤¤º°`°º¤£ |
