- a very discret dog that is small and almost transparent

I've yet to find a convincing reason why *any* form of DOG is required,
ever.

It's just territorial ****ing.

The men and motors dog is a model to other tv channels on how it should
be done .

Its small enough and transparent enough to blend in so you dont even
notice it - but its clear enough if you want to glance at it as a quick
reminder of what channel you are currently watching .

While i dislike most modern day tv network techno ****e - i'm not anti
dog if its done proper and isnt offensive .

Hello

Don't know if this has been mentioned lately but it looks like TUT
have announced their new line up and new Thomson PVR box.

Looks like they say you can get upto 100 channels including MTV!

(*)

The box: http://www.topuptv.com/newcustomer/box.html

"Your new improved service will need a new
improved box – a box that gives you over a
100 hand-picked programmes to watch
at any one time"

Blimey, that really is picture in picture.

Now I'm uncertain. Should I go with TUTV or get one of those new
fangled VHS VCRs which lets you choose to watch any of over a thousand
hand-picked programmes, though I don't think the VCR will do 100
picture in picture?

This is interesting:

The Thomson DTI 6300-16 Top Up TV Anytime box has the following
specification:

* Twin Tuner
* 160GB hard disk
* Up to 120 hours of recording space
* Ability to fast forward and rewind (up to 64 speed)
* Includes: bespoke Top Up TV Anytime remote control and Scart
Lead

That's it, the bespoke Scart Lead is the clincher for me.

Why would I need to do that? If my cerebral functions have atrophied to the
point where I can no longer remember what I am watching, I can press a
button on my remote control and the TV will tell me.

....more interesting is the daily pre-selected programmes
they are going to put on your PVR every night.

As with everything PVR, Tivo did it years ago in 2002

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2002/05...ivo_recorders/

...wasn't very successful then either...

S-VHS Output

Sounds good to me I could do with some more S-VHS tapes, and a box which
can make these tapes from nothing more than electricity going in should
be worth a fortune, perhaps I can re-programme it to make gold along
with all my food, cloths, etc. just like they do on Star Trek!

It's 100 PROGRAMMES not 100 CHANNELS!!!

How is that going to be explained to the population?

* 12 month warranty

No RGB - I suppose that why they only need a cut down bespoke SCART
lead.

"New Top Up TV Anytime gives you a selection of hand-picked programming,
providing over a 100 programmes to choose from at any one time, from a
wider range of channels than ever before."

So you're not getting channels any more & certainly not a nasty clutter
of 100. No, instead they pick the 100 best programmes for you... by
hand, no less. That's better, isn't it?

Didn't TUTV say they were going to use the Internet for downloading
programs?

Oh goody, a bite, not much fun though, I find 'fish' and 'barrel' come
to mind.

Seriously though, anyone who can not remember what channel they have
selected does have clinical problems; even if BBC repeating commercial
channel's programmes and visa versa is a little confusing.
