Default lcd v plasma

HI all,

Thinking of grading up from my old 32 in crt to something more modern. I
do not have an aerial and rely solely on ntl.

Is there an unbiased site out there comparing the technolgies and tvs?

Regards

I recently asked the same question, the best advice I received was to
put "LCD vs Plasma" into Google. Lots of sites giving pros & cons

Be care full on that.
I know a store down the road the first set on the row is fed by its own
aerial, the rest share a second aerial.
You then think the first set you see is the best.

Have you considered that some recognised brands may have poor quality
flat screen TVs or that they may have first, second and third generation
technology on sale at the same time?

Some companies had a good reputation for producing TVs with CRT
technology. It doesn't necessarily mean that these same companies have
the same expertise in producing a completely different technology.

Its very much like saying that all Sony technology is good. We now know
their batteries are likely to catch fire when fitted in Dell and Apple
products

Note: if a flat panel TV is only being demonstrated with cartoons or any
other source containing large blocks of the same colour then the shop
knows these screens are c**p - and they should be avoided.

The thing that gets on my tits is suppliers brainwashing the average member
of the public into believing LCD/Plasma are the only choice and that they
must want to hang them on the wall! I've seen a few wall-mounted ones and
they are so far up the wall they get neck ache watching them

I ignored all the hype and went the DLP projection route - got a Sagem 50"
and the quality on that is sensational. Viewing angle is good (and let's
face it, you stick a telly in the corner and look at it from one angle for
most of its life), picture definition is superb, it has 3 RGB Scarts, 2 HDMI
with HDCP, component, VGA, S-video, composite, DVB-T, the bloody works and
it was 999 quid

Screw plasma/LCD

Which, being a standard Osram P-VIP unit is freely available on Ebay for 70
quid, and as it should last for around 3 years is an expense I have no
problem accomodating
