Default BBC / MUX 1 crashing Topfield since Friday

It's is seldom that I watch Biased Broadcasting ****s but my Toppy crashed
recording "Airforce One" last night and that space shuttle Z-movie tonight
when one changes to BBC DUMB (via Crystal Palace).

Fortuitously, it appears to be something the BBC is doing and is only
affecting the BBC channels (so no affecting my normal viewing then!).

Fortunately, there are lots of reports of the issue on http://toppy.org.uk/
, the webmaster is in contact with Turbosat, and hopefully the BBC will
desist screwing around with the network.

Don't panic if you're a Topfield owner:

It might be worth mentioning that there is already a TAP to fix this
problem.. This is the very reason I chose the Topfield in the first
place; its got amazing support, and the fix was available within 12 hours..

The TAP can be found on http://toppy.org.uk aswell.

And if you have read and understood the diagnosis on the toppy site you
will have spotted that this is a problem with the engineering channel. While
the BBC makes bitrate available for this it is actually managed by the DTG
so perhaps you should ask them stop screwing the network. However my money
is on a bug in the toppy misinterpreting a perfectly valid firmware download
for another box.

It was the BBC, no it was DTG, no it was Topfield, hell, it was the jews...
I couldn't give a **** however the box crashes when I switch to BBC DUMB
therefore the BBC are ****s.

I have learnt that the public has the right to nothing from the BBC. End of.

You certainly have no right to anything they produce, since you are a
criminal who refuses to buy a TV licence, preferring that the rest of us
subsidise your viewing. That your box crashes when you attempt to watch the
BBC seems like rather poetic justice!

The BBC - Crashing Topfield PVR's:-

T h i s i s w h a t w e do . . .

I've recently had a few re-occurrences of the screen going blank, and
the sound remaining, necessitating a reboot ( iDTV ).

It's been happening on E4+1 and Sky3 ( MUX C ), never on BBC though.

When this was happening in the past, It seemed to me to always signal
the imminent arrival of a new channel, and at the time there were plenty
of those.

I've just had a look at " View new TV channels", and I find TVTV Digital
on 304 ( MUX C ).

I have that FIVE problem, where the screen goes blank but sound continues,
but only sometimes, when one switches to FIVE. We don't do E4+1 or Sky Thrcc
here.

It's the beginning of the month, so I suppose you have an excellent point
about the DTT network reconfiguring for this month's changes. ;-)

To the program running inside the Toppy, the BBC is input data. A program
should not crash merely because it is fed the wrong input data. Blame the
Toppy, not the BBC.
