That's pretty devastating. Anyone reading that thread would never want to
buy a Westinghouse. Not when there is a 1 in 3 chance of problems and
Westinghouse won't do repairs. They are a price leader, but with that kind
of customer service, the price is still to high.

I bought the new 47" 1080P Westinghouse from Crutchfield and after 6 days
the screen turned into vertical streaks of color. I called Westinghouse
customer service and got right through to someone there who had me try a
couple of things. They then determined that the panel had failed and
suggested that I return it to CF due to the fact that to repair it would
require factory servicing ( sending it to them). Unfortunately this was a
problem that they could not fix with their "in home service" warranty. They
were very good on the phone and even called the next day to follow up and
check with me to see if I was able to return it to CF. I did return it and
ended up buying a new Sony 46" XBR2 (locally ) which is an incredible TV (
to be fair it was twice the price). When the Westinghouse was working it
had a great picture...but failing after 6 days did nothing for my confidence
in the product. I must say their customer service was all I could have
expected and if I could have bought originally one from a local dealer I
would have exchanged it for another. No one locally here in CT is stocking
these sets so unless you can get one of their products from a local dealer
with a 30 day or so return policy I would stay away from their products.

Westy called YOU the next day- well, that sounds encouraging.
You might think about posting your experience on AVS, if you haven't done so
already.
