That's not really a bad way to look at it. Feilds exist and transfer energy. At times the energy looks like mass. The transference is from positive to negative. I would expect a self-proclaimed expert to at least know how to spell "fields". I'd expect a reasonable person to be more tolerant of relatively insignificant spelling "differences". Normally, yes. But it's the same as a mechanic misspelling "transmission". One should show less mistakes in their field of expertise. Mechanics are not noted for being good at spelling. Even less so, Engineers and Physicists. I haven't seen a report from either that didn't require sending through tech pubs (that's Technical Publications for the amateur scientist). This was often needed just to send the report to another department or especially a customer. Anyway a REAL Mechanic would NEVER spell transmission. His note or missive would say something like Svd Tranny. Sometimes he would remember what svd stood for. But don't let that bother you. |

There's something called "hole current" that moves the other way. In college, I remember seeing a film in college, that showed a bipolar transistor with both electrons and holes moving. No matter what the "movie" said, no electron movement. That statement will come as quite a shock to those who have spent many years moving them around. Life would be so much simpler for the electrical power companies if they didn't have to move those pesky electrons. |

Of course you do know that all electrical fields travel on or just under the surface of wire and VHF above the surface. You probably also know that electrons don't "travel". They don't even move. You've just amply demonstrated your lack of critical thinking on this topic. Nice job ;-) I'll have to tell that to those that paid me so much. I'm sorry I went beyond hi-school or tech school levels. Their typical application of thoughts is way more than sufficient to repair and often design, but it stops there. Quantum Physics is real. No matter what the "movie" said, no electron movement. Kinetic energy is being passed along. That requires some physical objects to move. If not electrons, WHAT? Of course it could be all holes. Really? What is a physical object? It isn't. There is some thing that isn't a physical object. Correct. What we call physical or solid isn't. One thing I remember from the physics class I had in college, is that physical contact doesn't really happen. Most of what people think of as physical contact is the interaction of electrical fields. Matter is mostly empty space. It is not ENTIRELY empty space. "True, but unhelpful." Quantum mechanics is NOT new, but one would think it is from the knowledge in many universities and fifty year old text books. Verizon FIOS will be the Cable killer.
I'm excited by FIOS, competition = better customer services, and more competitive prices. Vernon wrote: "Dan" wrote in message news ![]() Pauli G wrote: I can vouch for what he is saying in polite terminology - Comcast is a godawful cable company, and cable operations such as Comcast are proabably a huge reason for the success of other alternative TV technologies. If cable companies don't start treating consumers with more respect, they'll find their subscriber base eroding until there is nothing left but crickets chirping in the woods. It's happened in other industries, and cable tv could be next. ~Happy holidays~ I can second that. I moved to the Seattle area in January, have been fighting with Comcast for nearly 8 months. Worst experience I've EVER had with ANY utility, anywhere I have lived, bar none. They simply do not give a damn if the customer is satisfied. I am keeping the 8 meg Internet (no other alternative for that speed & it generally works OK) but I just had Direct TV installed (works great, no more tiling whenever it rains or the temp gets above 80!) & am dumping Comcast for TV. In addition to the service problems, Comcast made frequent billing errors on my account. And the attitude you get when you call! About half way through the TV troubles, I spoke to a "supervisor", told her if they didn't do something to address my concerns, I'd have no alternative but to cancel. Without missing a breath, she replied "Would you like me to put that cancellation through now?" Can't stand the *******s. Dan I may or may not be a while but cable T.V., as we know it, will disappear. T.V will be either thru the main electric lines or more probably satellite. |
