What HDTV out today will show analog stations the best? Some I have

Also any way to get analog stations to look better on an HDTV if I

uses make the analog stations look ok.

It's one reason I have not bought an HDTV so far as the analog looked
so bad on them, but that's been a few years ago I last looked.

If you wait until Feb. 2009, it won't make any difference since analog TV
will disappear then.

I suspect that the digital cable versions will look as good as the analog
versions. They do so on satellite, although pixelization is sometimes a
problem (much better now than a few years ago).

No it won't. LPTV stations have no date set as yet for digital
conversion. There are a lot of LPTV stations.

There may be "a lot of LPTV stations", but few viewers.
I live in the 5th largest DMA in the U.S. and can't receive
any LPTV stations.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe many cable or satellite services
carry LPTV channels. The digital transition is likely to generate
new subscribers for cable or satellite service.

NTSC video will be available on output connectors
of cable or satellite boxes for many years beyond 2009.

OTOH, it looks like they won't get any transition spectrum even after

As far as I know, there is no must-carry for LPTV. I've heard of some
that do get carried in some places, but it's apparently not a widespread
thing.

Flash cuts and shutdowns, right on and I might add a wish to sell out, a
frustration that there is no path forward. OTA is dead.

But that is what the current Congress wants. An end to OTA free TV, less
competition for cable, Telco FIOS and satellite and big bucks from a
future auction of channels 2-51. Got to clean up the spectrum by killing
off those who really depend on broadcasting to survive as broadcasters
and by ignoring those who depend on free OTA for their TV.

Take a look at the modulation and codec they are stuck with, take a look
at FCC policy toward the spectrum between 2-51, listen to remarks made
by FCC Chairman in reference to OTA spectrum like "what are we protecting?"

FCC policy on the table right now include two items, broadband over
power lines and the free use of the spectrum, channels 2-51, by smart
radios like in WiFi and WiMax for the masses . That means it is open
season for interference in that spectrum.

Broadcasters are turning blue trying to tread water between getting must
carry of multicasting and not upsetting Congress by being to vocal about
the free for all in their spectrum space.

Congress doesn't seem to care. Like the FCC they are thinking who is
using this spectrum and why should we care about it. Very few voters it
looks like and their numbers are declining.

What's an LPTV? One of those Magnavox consoles with the turntable under the
sliding panel?
