Default Sky In France

Hi All.

I have a couple questions relating to Freesat.

I'm going to be putting in a dish and box in France. I'm pretty sure I'm
on
top of that.

With no card - I'll get all the FTA channels I know. How will the receiver
determine what ITV region I'm in? I've read that this selection comes from
the Sky Cards.

FTV - I know about getting a card from Sky, but I've also read that using
an
old dark blue previous-subscription card would work. I have a couple old
cards, but I'm being told by a friend that :

"You should be able to ring for the card from the UK and activate it in
the
UK but do not leave it out of the system for more than 5 days when
bringing
it over as they sometimes deactivate." He refers to the Freesat card from
Sky.

Is this true? If it is, then how do old subscription cards work? I'm
getting
a couple second-hand decoders with remotes and old subscription cards(dark
blue ones)...will they work for the FTV?

Okay guys. Got a new Digibox. Thought I'd hook it up. Without the card, 1 &
3 as expected.

However, switching the box on, it goes out, looks for listings and comes
back without Channel 4 & 5 - they simply aren't even in the listings. Put in
the card - 'Card not authorised'. Is this to be expected? Will the card
suddenly 'authorise' in a few days? Will channel 4 & 5 suddenly appear?

Not sure about that. You may need to hunt around a bit. Is $ky Three
available or is that missing too? This seems familiar, but having my own
boxes and cards I've not paid that much attention to problems like you
describe. I still think that you're better off getting a 'proper'
Freesat card though.

Boxes with no card default to the BBC/ITV region of the last used card

Only for the Beeb. Reset the box, and 103 gets mapped to ITV Central W
Mids.(IME)

I seem to remember it going to ITV London, not that I often look at a
digibox without a card.

Would Central W be your region, by any chance?

This is normal. You need a valid card in for those channels to appear.

Put in
the card - 'Card not authorised'.

You have an unauthorised card. It will need authorising.

If it is a Freesat card then you will need to ring the Freesat number
and quote the personal details of the person to whom the card was
issued.

If it is a Sky subscription card you can bin it.

No, I'm Meridian North

These are Digiboxes purchased from EBay, coming from London, Yorkshire,
Newcastle, and Devon. All after a reset displayed Central on 103.

I believe the card coming with the box is a current card ie. The
latest card used by Sky, with subscription cancelled. Can we use this
to decode Channel 4/5/Sky 3? If it works, I assume regionalisations
would be whatever address the card was previously registered at.

For ITV region, I think that the default is ITV London. That's
certainly
true of BBC One. I have a subscription-cancelled card and that works
fine for C4, C5, $ky Three etc. - no worries there.

Without a card you end up with BBC 1 London on 101, BBC 2 England on 102,
and ITV Central West on 103

What is the default PIN for a digibox that has never seen a card?

its the card that has a PIN not the box
