Default Avoiding the Sky HD install charge

Has anyone managed to talk Sky out of the £60? It seems a farce given
that all the man will do is unplug the sky plus box and plug in the new
HD box.

I have tried it on twice and was met with a flat NO

Seemingly if you threaten to move to Freeview (and sound serious!), sky
waive their engineer fee.

Move to freeview HD? Better to threaten to move to NTL HD.

That said, HD is over subscribed so I would guess CS have no wiggle room for
deals atm.

Yes, with Telewest's unbeatable lineup of NO HD CHANNELS WHATSOEVER
I'm sure that Sky are absolutely crapping themselves - with laughter.

Wouldn't have thought so, TW HD only has a handful of HD programmes
being shown over and over and over and over again.

At least with Sky HD you get several channels in HD.

(Not that I have any intention of having either, as I cancelled my Sky
sub not so long back, and when TW start asking for payment for the TV
service that will be cancelled too, I no longer watch must TV, so the
free channels are fine and SD is fine, I spend my time out and about or
pop online from time to time).

Not to mention that cable is pretty far from 100% coverage - something I
have to remind people when they recommend I switch.

Be careful not to read "HD" in a product's title as Hi-Def. It may
well mean Hard Drive, to refer to the fact that's what it does its
recording on.

In Telewests case, it does stand for Hi Def.

True, I live within 10 miles from two major cities (York and Leeds)
and have no cable services (despite my postcode supposedly being in an
NTL area), and never will according to NTL and Telewest. I'm also
limited to 1meg broadband.

But I do have lovely views, and Sky HD
