Default Sky One introduces on-screen paid for advertising during programmes

I just got back from holiday, so this might be old news by now but
since it's something I haven't seen before, and it's something that I
predicted would happen at least 6 months ago, forgive me for pointing
it out again.

During The Simpsons tonight, Sky One had on-screen adverts for Dominos
Pizzas during the programme itself, as well as the normal pre and post
ad break slots. I taped it if anyone doubts this.

It won't be long now before every programme has a similar message from
the sponsors permanently etched onto our ever diminishing viewing
screen.

Yet people continue to pay 'by their own choice' every month .

It seems clear that sky knows their customers well in the fact they know
most customers consider cancelling as being unthinkable .

And their product placement on behalf of the American Donut Maker's
Association is pretty blatant too. Mmmmm..donuts....

I'd rather the BBC licence fee went down if they got extra revenue by having
the characters in, say, Eastenders going into the Queen Vic and ask for a pint
of Stella instead of "a pint" or "a pint of t'usual".

That will never happen. Sounds far too cheery for an Eastenders script
more like, "Can I have 300 Nurofen for this overdose I'm planning."

Girl's TV anyway so probably something with sanitary towels.

They had that covered, early on at least. It is/was called "Churchills"
IIRR. Such is the influnce of EE that it seems no brewers thought
it worth bringing out a Churchills beer, even if only for the
publicity. Or maybe they did and it isn't Churchills any more.
Same as the beer in Corrie. Has nobody imitated that? Or maybe
Granada registered the name themselves so as to deter imitations.

Corry, in particular, you would think would have a real beer and charge some
dumb brewery for the priviledge. Having already sold their soul to a
chocolate company, the next step should be much easier.

I like that idea, especially as all the staff got a free choccie bar on the
signing of the sponsorship deal, Free beer is better
