There have been reports that there are some consumers who are Beta
testing the S3 box. Who are these people? Any Ideas? Also, I have a sony Series 1 box witha lifetime subscription that's been in my closet the last few years. Do you think it has any value? Should I try to sell it on ebay and if so, do you know what the going rate is? Thanks Steven |

You can be fairly certain that the testers have agreed to not divulge anything, including the fact that they are testing it. Any Ideas? Also, I have a sony Series 1 box witha lifetime subscription that's been in my closet the last few years. Do you think it has any value? I'm sure it does, as it would seem that the lifetime subscription should be worth a couple of hundred.... Just google for it and you'll probably get a lot of hits on eBay. Should I try to sell it on ebay and if so, do you know what the going rate is? There ought to be enough for sale to make a decent comparison. A lifetimed unit is still worth some bucks. Randy S. |

Also, I have a sony Series 1 box witha lifetime subscription that's been in my closet the last few years. Do you think it has any value? Well, it's got more value now than it will a year from now. In 2 more years it'll be about wothless. Should I try to sell it on ebay and if so, do you know what the going rate is? I dumped my S1 with 120Gb drive for $100. Since I went digital, it was just a doorstop. S1's should be worth more than S2's since they don't require a sub to work. Should get close to $100 for it. -- Want the ultimate in free OTA SD/HDTV Recorder? http://mythtv.org http://mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html Usenet alt.video.ptv.mythtv My server http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/cpu.php HD Tivo S3 compared http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/mythtivo.htm |

As long as analog TVs (in use) are plentiful (and they will be for years to come), there will be some sort of an STB to convert analog to digital (DirecTV box, DiSH receiver, cable box) and the TiVo will work. |

IIRC, the only Sony DVRs were DirecTV DVRs. Sony T-60 DVRs were available when lifetime service was being offered for the DirecTV DVR. All DirecTV DVRs except DirecTV HD DVR will record only from a satellite signal. Folks get confused about TiVo Series1 and Series2 DVRs wrt DirecTV DVRs. |
