Were they showing earlier performances? I doubt if the BBC have any stereo
recordings from before NICAM became available

The entire production including the modern stuff was in mono.

I did like the use of microphones by each presenter, from each of their
particular 'eras'. Saville and Blackburn had a model from the 60s, though
Blackburn's sounded very ropey (not surprising for a mic that's been in storage
for 40 years ?).
