Default Component Video Cabling

I have a new HDTV and an older AV receiver and need assistance on
connecting the two.
TV is a LG 50PC1DRA
Receiver is and Onkyo TX-S600
Will use a cable card and a DVD player, not connecting the computer to
the system. I can email a schematic of the back of the receiver and TV
if need be.
Please help?

I found a spec for an Onkyo TX-SR600 here. Is that what you have?

http://reviews.cnet.com/Onkyo_TX_SR6...5.html?tag=sub

Based on that spec, the receiver has digital audio and component video
switching.

Assuming that's what you have, you want to hook up the coax or toslink
(optical) digital audio out from the DVD player to the receiver and
the component video out from the DVD player to the TV, unless you have
more than one source that has component video outs. If you have more
than one source, then you can use the receiver for video switching,
where the outputs are sent to the receiver and the component monitor
video out is connected to the TV.

The coax or toslink digital audio out from the TV should be plugged
into a digital audio input on the receiver.
