After discovering that the codec for Divx does not allow videos larger than about one megapixel per frame, and that Xvid does not work at all but rather fails an error about a "statsfile", I am now curious as to whether there might be an h264 codec available that I can use with VirtualDubMod. Does anyone know? Thanks. |

Ken Maltby wrote: Have you tried the free "x264" codec? Yes, and it did encode 1440x1080, but playback using mplayer was very slow. What should have been 24 fps turned out to be one frame every four seconds. |

You might want to get the CoreAVC codec, it is the fastest software decoder available ( I think it was like $20 for the Pro version download) There CoreAAC codec is still available free. Luck; Ken |

Another possible cure is hardware acceleration, ATI has H264 acceleration in their X1000 series vid cards, they call it "Avivo" http://www.ati.com/technology/avivo/h264.html Nvidia has "Pure(something)" Luck; Ken |
