Default Why does TNT HD stretch it's pictures?

I noticed a lot of the cop shows stretch their pictures without adjusting
the aspect ratio. Anyone else notice this?

Gee, no, it's never been talked about before.

Since they broadcast the same show on SD-TNT, you now get the choice of
aspect ratio. For the movies they stretch, just flip on the SD
channel.

My problem is that on the TNT SD channel on Charter cable here the audio is
mono...no stereo, no surround and the sound is terrible. The HD TNT has
great sound...
