Default The State Of The Union in HD! Some observations

I wondered if they would finally get to the point of broadcasting news
events in HD and the State of the Union looked to be a good place to start. It
was. It's interesting that you can pick out individual politicians from the
long shots. However, there are some things the politicians need to watch out
for:

Ted Kennedy looks like the drunk he is. A blotchy face with forty miles
of bad road behind it.

Charles Rangel asleep during the speech.

The black representative, name unknown, who had his young daughter
there, who also went to sleep.

Nancy Pelosi, who gave half of the Democratic response, looked like she
was on speed.

Bush looked pretty good, which was to be expected since he was the focus
of the thing.

Tom Daschel looked good too.

The interesting thing is that it showed up in HD on CBS and NBC, but not
ABC. However, the Democrats response did show up in HD on ABC. I wonder if
that was a deliberate oversight?

I noticed that in HD, everything the politicians said was suddenly true. In
regular definitions, each politician would say that the government would
spend $X, but in HD, it came through that they said 2 x $X.

Couple of things I observed. It was great to see everything in HDTV
and Kennedy did look like something I would be ashame to be associated
with.

It was also a shame that the they allowed the AV club from Miss
Whitney's 5th grade elementary school operate the cameras and video
switching equipment.

The broadcast on ABC was in Hi definition here in Chicago and Fox
wasn't.

To me it actually looked like Ted's head was ready to explode. Hillary in HD is
also something that could have halted HD in its development.

Since I had to watch it on a Tivo recording I got to see in in standard-def.
Good ol' Ted looked just as bad on regular TV. Not sure I'd want to see that
horrific shot in Hi-Def.

BTW: Hillary looked as thrilled as ever to be there.

Ted's head wasn't ready to explode. There were still WAY too many wrinkles.

I did like how the HD picture showed the booze evaporating from his skin.

Here in Minneapolis the ABC, CBS, and NBC showed it in HD. UPN and FOX of
course didn't. Both the SOU and DR were in HD on the first three networks.

Here in Seattle, ABC and NBC had it in HD. CBS did not.
