Oh, quite probably in the past. Now... Sky are in more trouble now
than ever, with a strong Freeview charge, Virgin really in control at
ntl:/telewest and broadband threatening them all, and so need a
warchest.

I think that Sky may be caught between a rock and a hard place. The
constant flow of newbie subscribers is gradually drying up as
penetration passes the 50% mark so they have to find ways of getting
more money from existing subscribers. And at the same time they are
threatened by broadband TV which is more or less free - so it isn't a
good time to put prices up.

It's due soon; BT have now started marketing it judging from their
latest TV ads. And note the article states that "BT is to begin trials
of video-on-demand (VoD) via broadband early next year ahead of a full
commercial launch scheduled for summer 2006." So they're right on
track by the looks of things.
