Humax LGB26TPVR

My parents recently bought on of these because they were told (and it's in
the User Handbook) that it can record subtitles.

So far they, their supplier, and various tech support have been unable to
record subtitles. Present opinion is that it's a software problem (upgrade
required) or that the user handbook is wrong and should not have mentioned
recording teletext.

Does anyone have any experience of this TV and recording teletext on it?

I don't know this model at all (I didn't even know there *were*
combined LCD tvs and PVRs), so I am speculating ...

The spec. at http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/produ...lgb-26tpvr.asp
says it has both analogue and digital tuners. I am guessing that the
recording side is only for digital (BICBW). If this is the case, then
teletext is irrelevant. Subtitles on digital tv are not transmitted
using page 888 of teletext, as is the case with analogue television.

Are you/your parents assuming that because you have previously used
subtitles on teletext page 888 on analogue, then that's what you must
do when playing back (digital) recordings on this machine? If so, then
that won't work. You need to invoke *digital* subtitles, by whatever
means and whatever buttons on the remote control are specified in the
user manual.
