Default channel re-scan??

As you realised, the channels that don't appear are the encrypted
channels with regional variants. All the others appear. Basically it's
only C4 and C5.

The reason is because the region is mapped by the card, as you
surmised. The regional FTA channels default to London.

Wouldn't the same be for regional ITV though?

Potentially - but doesn't ITV default to ITV London? C4 defaults to
not being
in the EPG at all!

I haven't a clue, we get ITV London anyway. What you say though does
make sense. Just find it odd that its the only channel missing.

What about five?

I am trying to remember what was available in the holiday cottage we
rented
a couple of weeks back. I know 4 and 5 were not available, I don'tt think
they were on the EPG. There was a card inserted but it was "not
authorised" according to the onscreen messages.

Yes I just realised that last night - channel 5 is also missing.

Yes that makes sense. Realised late last night that Channel 5 was also
missing. So I take it they will appear after I get my card.

Only after it has been activated IIRC.

Instructions will come with the card. Ring Sky with the card and the box in
front of you. Give them the numbers they ask for and wait for the activation
to work through the system.

And there is all the info you need.

Someone had omitted to get the card authorised.
