Default channel re-scan??

How do I do a rescan for channels on a sky box? Its a new freesat box but
looks to have the same EPG layout as normal sky.

I am missing channel 4 from my list - seems to be the only one missing. The
installer did say that some channels may be missing until I get the viewing
card through, but I thought it would at least pickup that the channels exist
even if I could not view them.

Thought maybe a rescan might pick it up, but I cannot find an option
anywhere and the manual does not say.

You cannot!

The installer was correct in this case! While many channels are, indeed,
present on a Sky Digibox when it arrives many others (logic anyone???) only
appear in the EPG when a card is inserted.

While it is generally bad form to reply to one's own posting I have remembered
the answer.

C4 has serveral "regions" ... all with the same programmes but potentially
different adverts.

Thus the "postcode mapping" which maps the correct BBC1, BBC2 and ITV to 101,
102 and 103 is also used to map the correct C4 to 104 (but it is not as
obvious!!!)

I managed to do it via the 401 installer menu. Didn't find C4 though so
will have to wait until the card arrives. Thanks.

Wouldn't the same be for regional ITV though?

Potentially - but doesn't ITV default to ITV London? C4 defaults to not being
in the EPG at all!

I haven't a clue, we get ITV London anyway. What you say though does make
sense. Just find it odd that its the only channel missing.

Alternative theory....C4 isn't (AFAIK!) available in Southern Ireland so
"out of the box" Digiboxes deliberately don't show it on the EPG until they
get to see a UK smartcard!

Yes that sounds more feasible :-)

What about five?

I am trying to remember what was available in the holiday cottage we rented
a couple of weeks back. I know 4 and 5 were not available, I don'tt think
they were on the EPG. There was a card inserted but it was "not
authorised" according to the onscreen messages.
