I'm sure you do have to have a BT line for Sky;

Certainly not and has never been the case. If they require you to
connect the digibox to a fixed telephone line, then any provider
will do.

Okay. Well, it only mentions BT in the last contract I looked at.

Then you didn't look properly. :-(

How do you know what was the last contract he looked at? Have Sky's
Ts&Cs remained constant over the last couple of decades?

It was inded the dim and distant past; when my parents took the analogue
service. Okay, they were in Spain at the time, but that's not the issue here
;-)

At least,
I think it did. Will re-check :-)

You said before you were "sure", which was flatly wrong

Yes. I suppose I should have said "as far as I know" or something similar.
To be fair, I usually do. Just slipped-up this time.

Having checked a contract with a date of Sept 2005 on the front, I see that
it no-longer refers to a "BT Line". Oh well, we all make mistakes :-D

Well it wasn't really a slip-up, was it? You *were* sure. You may even have
been right. The problem was the copy you remembered was slightly out of date
;-)
