Default sky starting to **** me off now

Sky + box has been glitching for some months now. Lots of little problems
like planner problems, inability to rewind. The latest in the long list is
we cannot delete a program off the planner, it shows deleting for a moment
then goes to viewed. Oddly, if I go to view it, it asks for pin number - it
is not an age rated program and there is no reason for it to be like that.
Pin or no pin, I still cannot delete it.
Phoned Sky, they went through all manner of things, like unpluggoing cables,
inserting viewing card upside down and so on. I think they are taking me
for a ride. Their final suggestion was a format of the hard drive - that
would be the 4th in one month and they still will not just get someone round
to replace the box. Last engineer came round and just deleted the programs.
Four deletions in one month is simply unacceptable and I do not know how to
proceed with this. Please advise.

Do what I did and replace the drive yourself. It's the only way you'll
get any sort of proper fix. Oh, and I'd also add extra cooling. The
drives in the Sky+ boxes always cook themselves into an early grave.

Regards

Well I should not have to do this at my own expense. The box is still under
warranty just that Sky are being difficult. It still has 4 months on the
warranty.

I see they've read the FAQ.

DId they tell you do a planner rebuild? Did you do it?

You have formatted the drive three times already this month?

Last engineer came round and just deleted the programs.

He managed it and you can't? This seems odd.

Write to Sky telling that if you don't have a working solution
involving a brand new box within 14 days you will see them in court
for a full refund of all monies paid to them (installation and subs)
and damages.

For what it's worth you could suggest that they try replacing your
card.

Threaten to cancel. If they say you can't within 12 months, point out
that they aren't living up to *their* part of the contract, since the
equipment they provided is defective.

Sorry when I say he just deleted the programs I meant he did another format.
3 times in a month have got me to do a planner format - not the planner
rebuild, but the deeper one which formats the drive.
The problem now is that we cannot delete a single program that is about an
hour long. There is some kind of corruption with the program. Sky want me
to do another format but I am getting sick of it. Along with the other
problems, like inability to rewind sometimes and all manner of things, I
would like to try another box. Don't care if its a refurb, as long as it
works.
