Default Hd & Sky+ & Multiroom

So is there anybody on here who already had Sky+ & Multiroom and has
since had HD fitted and kept the Sky+ ?
If so then did they do it by using your existing 2 cards or did you have
to have a new viewing card sent to you ?
Some call centre gimp eventually came back to me and said that they can
use my existing 2 cards from my Sky+ box and my normal box to set up my
HD box and Sky+ box. This would be ok but a workmate who has the same
set-up as me has just had a new card delivered ??
He seems to think that the existing card in the normal box is useless
for either HD or Sky+
Anyone know the definite answer ?

The Sky+ certainly uses exactly the same card as a regular box. It is
merely a question of activating the Sky+ function on the card and this
is done on-air by Sky.

It seems that for reasons known only to themselves, Sky have been
issuing new cards for HD boxes. However, the older cards as used in
regular and Sky+ boxes seem to work perfectly well in the new HD boxes
too, and many people have used them when they haven't received a new
card.

YES BUT BEWA After the engineer moved my Sky+ box nothing recorded would
play, unless recorded on BBC1, BBC2 or ITV. I've phoned 'support' and had
the usual, 'you card will need to be reactivated, please wait 4 hours' - but
this has *not* sorted the problem and after starting to get very cross I've
given up pursuing it for my own sanity.

At least I got HD installed so I guess I should not be complaining; rather
this is a heads up to watch anything recorded ***before installalation
commences***.

Wouldn't have been so bad but I was on holiday the week before.... (weep)

Oh and I had my first HD box freeze requiring a complete power down last
night. I confused the box by pressing rewind on a recorded program while
recording another (shame on me). Lost what I was recording of course ...
(weep)

I have never had the Sky+ keeping the Sky Digital only up to now.
My HD box was fitted, usual 2 mins to four hours, no premium channels, no HD
so after three hours rang customer services, he checked the account and then
sent the signal down the phone line, 3 mins later after the phone light had
been on twice, all channels available on my old Sky digital card :-)

Now all I need them to do is sort out the noise when in auto mode the box
changes over to HD or SD and I lose the sound, having to switch over from
the input and back again... (The way at this moment to get round this is to
manually put it onto 1080i in the setup, but you then lose all aspect ratio
control..)
