The 622 receiver has a new setting: "audio sync", either HDMI or component.
This solved serious lip sync problems with my Sony 006. But the new HD locals often have really bad lip sync problems. The video lags the audio, so audio delays won't help. - RZ |

The video lags the audio, so audio delays won't help. The need for delaying the audio comes from the fact that TV sets that process the image, cause a delay on the video (there is no way around that.) It means that the audio should be delayed that same amount. I noticed that certain new Philips models (european model PF9831) includes audio outputs that is marked "Display Syncronized". That is a good way because the only unit that knows exactly how much delay is needed is the TV. The delay might also vary with different processing modes. When the audio is connected directly to a surround amplifier the delay needs to be set in either the receiver or the amplifier. Other problems with lip sync are introduced either in production (I sometime notice certain scenes in movies with lip sync "mistakes"), in the distribution or perhaps bad design work in receivers. Try to pinpoint which and report to the respective customer service. /Jan |

I have not seen this with my 622, but I do not subscribe to any locals.
I have it set to HD, and also record from the SVHS while watching from HDMI, no synch problems on the SVHS thus far. My recorded audio loops through my receiver to the recorder via the line outputs.
