I don't know about that one but I use
http://www.skyeye.force9.co.uk/skyeyepc.htm which has the advantage of not
needing an infra red wand stuck on the front of the Skybox. There's also
some software that will do what you want available on their website for free
download. I don't know if it's any better than the one above but I've been
using it for the last 5 months on my PC without any problems and would
recommend it.

You could use the Scheduler programme (listed on
http://www.skyeye.force9.co.uk/software.htm ) to control which commands are
sent to the Skybox at a specific time and date. The programme includes a
readme file giving details but basically you set up a text file where each
line gives a time and date and the commands you want to send

eg to set your Skybox to Channel 0101 at 7PM on Sunday 21st May 2006 you'd
use the following entry :

21/05/06 19:00 0101

Another option if your computer is connected to broadband, using the final
programme listed on the above page you can access your computer from another
computer. The programme lets you set a password which, along with your
firewall/router settings, should help keep other people out. I've used it
to control my Skybox from the office: it confuses the hell out of anyone
watching the Skybox at the time

wow - that's pretty damn convenient!

I use Macs mainly (so it'd be good if someone wrote a Mac version) but
I also have a sony windows laptop.

(for the benefit of mac users - maybe we can use Parallels
virtualisation to run this program? we'd need a usb--serial adaptor
but think of the possibilities - it's like tivo for EyeTV)

Well you can't turn them off completely, but you can set it so they

I designed a similar device - it's USB based instead (which generally
makes for a less troublesome install) and injects the signal directly
into the RF2 port rather than using IR, which is an awful lot more
reliable and less fiddly to get working.
