fair enough

using the space for a +1 channel was just temporary, it was useful for
you while it was there, but presumably you'll appreciate a proper
channel rather than jut a timeshifted one?

True, but why maintain E4+1? They could have just as easily junked that
in favour of Film4.

E4+1 is going to be 'junked' as well in due course, as C4 are going to
replace it with 'C4 America'.

When, what, and do you have a link?

I'm not sure about that idea?

It confuses what C4 does well, and is slightly incompatible with E4, MORE4,
and FilmFour's existing reason d'étre.

For proper Channel 4 to concentrate on UK content, they would be following
the path of BBC DUMB, BBC TWO, and SH-ITV. That is not exactly a winning
strategy given the superiority of US television and decline of channels
showing indigenous content.

In the end, words mean what we want them to mean. Dictionaries are
descriptive rather than normative. I will therefore continue to use
'PVR', because I know exactly what I have in mind. I may have the
occasional fight with a Tivo owner over the exact feature set required
to justify that term, but neither of us are likely to defer to you!

I have never watched any US originated soaps.
I class them on a par with shopping channels.

As opposed to UK originated "reality shows" and "make over shows".

;-)

I think C4 for showing something of most genres has to be the best channel
available at present and all without charging a fee.

Then you will carry on looking like a halfwit who believes all the
marketing hype, like many a TiVio owner in fact!

Oh yes, US television, that would be were the programmes get in the
way of the adverts...

Indeed, whilst flipping through the channels, after 30 seconds of Big
Brother, ABC1 seems like a breath of fresh air - even with the
insistent adverts after every scene!...
