Default Sky finds new way to advertise during programmes

Sky One now has large writing advertising The Simpsons on screen all

adverts come on.

This has been happening more and more recently. Sci-fi has big blocks
of writing advertising later programs.

I've never seen the point of paying a monthly fee in order to see more
ads and on-screen junk than one gets on the FTA/FTV channels.

I know I've said this before but many of us don't give a monkey's about
DOGs. We like to watch the programmes.

And if you can't see the programme for the DOG, what then?

I too have learned to live with DOGs. Most of the time they are unobtrusive
and you just mentally blank them out I guess.
But in this case Sky did take it a bit far.
This was a whole sentence of text across the top of the screen that
constantly obscured characters faces.
Not sure how you can ignore the DOG and concentrate on the programme in
these circumstances.

I didn't see the show in question. What they're doing sounds like a
different thing entirely.

That's exactly it. I have always been annoyed at the fact that we're
already paying for it, plus get adverts constantly, so the dog stuff
is just doubly ****ing me off. Say what you like about the Beeb at
least they are relatively advert free.

I must admit i had gotten used to them, until the newer ones, firstly
the adds sliding across the screen during programs and then this new
thing of text on screen constantly. It's too much, it is obvious and
distracting, rather than being some slightly annoying watermark.

The trouble is, if you just sit back and accept the little DOGs as 'okay' then
you just leave the door open to bigger ****e. I've made that point before but
people just say "Oh, but they're just small DOGs" and then the bigger ones
come, at which point it's too late.

Maybe what we need is someone to do a kind of petition? I think odd
emails etc may not even get noticed, but a group protest may at least
show a stronger argument against?

I'm not volunteering, it isn't something I could bring myself to do,
but I will gladly add my name.

Presumably you've never watched BBC3 then. They have swirly adverts
mid-programme as well.

Odd times, there isn't too much on that I watch... I think i got peed
off with them first time they showed The italian Job and had a big DOG
at the top
