Saw somewhere that it being gold makes hardly any difference. It
having individual shielding, or whatever it is called, is more
important?

In fact, there's a school of thought that gold connectors should only
be used with gold pinned sockets, and nickel plated connectors should
only be used in nickel pinned sockets. (Differing metals being a source
of corrosion.)

That's a good one. I've not heard it but I was never into science etc.
Sounds plausible

Different metals mixed together can be a source of corrosion (AFAIK
you don't put aluminium radiators in systems with iron pipes) but I
don't think that gold qualifies.

CPC have gold-plated scarts for about £3. I would spend up to about
that price for a good scart but would never waste my money on these
£20 oxygen-free jumbo jobs. They are the ones to avoid.

These are good, as is the seller.

When I replaced cheap-black scart leads for these, I could see a visible
difference in picture sharpness and reduction in interference, as well as
hear a better sound track (less hiss, less buzz, richer quality sound).

I am using these as standard now.

away with selling DAB radios ?

Different metals mixed together can be a source of corrosion (AFAIK

don't think that gold qualifies.

Any two dissimilar metals in contact with eachother will produce some
level of galavanic corrosion, what level depends on the metal, see the
table in the link below:-

http://www.ocean.udel.edu/seagrant/p...corrosion.html

As others have stated individual screening is worth paying for, gold
plating isn't.
