Default Sky finds new way to advertise during programmes

I have sent this to Sky's "Viewer Relations" department this evening....

Dear Sky,

We get the bumpers during the ads for Ricky Gervais' appearance on the The
Simpsons ad-nauseum.

Every break it seems to be on...

Now we get a message ON SCREEN underneath the Sky One "DOG" during all of
primetime saying the same thing????

How many times do we need to be told???

Yes! We know! Ricky on Sunday on The Simpsons - WE GET IT!!!!!

Turn the bloody thing off!

Thanks for listening,

Simon Ough

A rather annoyed Sky One viewer.

I sugest you do the same (just replace my name with yours *lol*)

The only thing they would care about is;

"please cancel my subscription immediately. Reason for cancellation is the
advertising on screen overwriting the program you are showing"

Absolutely, if even 1% of their subscribers rang and cancelled with the same
reason Sky would get the message. Even better if everyone did it the same
day!

It occurs to me that phoning just to whinge is more effective since it ties
up their phone lines even if only for a few minutes, which means people cant
get through to order. An email or letter costs them nothing to read and
inconveniences no one there.

Dear Sky,

I am extremely unhappy about your new text adverts during programmes on Sky
One. I don't mind the little sky one logo but those text adverts go halfway
across the screen and are unacceptable.

I have pay for sky+ and multiroom, people pay enough for sky services
without having to be subjected to adverts DURING the programmes. Its bad
enough paying so much for Sky but to have my viewing distorted by RICKY
GODAMN GERVAIS is really taking the yellow liquid stuff - in the politest
possible way of course.

Please rethink this policy and change it back to the way it is so viewers
like myself can enjoy viewing again.

P.S. Ricky Gervais is not even very funny, he is even less funnier as a
text message.

I can't cancel immediately - the whole family is eager to see Ricky
Gervais on the Simpsons!

Personally I couldn't give a crap that he's in the show. Although I
like him a little I fail to see the hype and have never watched the
Simpsons for the guests.

In article , Mike Henry wrote:
It's interesting that there are so many complaints this week, far more
than the other occasions. Despite it being - by Sky's standards at least
- the most subtle one of the lot! It seems that frequency of the advert
(number of times it is used) is more annoying that how much of each
programme it covered was ruined? Surely not?

maybe its the actual programmes being affected that increases the level of
annoyingness/complaints, as I hadnt seen any of those before because I dont
watch Malcom in the Middle

whereas I did watch Sky One tonight for Battlestar Galactica, and so obviously
saw the new DOG and wasnt too happy about it.

although in consideration, were getting off quite lightly it seems
