The one on the HD box will allegedly allow the use of external HDDs; perhaps
it's the same for a regular + box?

Hey that could be good if true. The 160 GB harddrives on the HD box
might sound a lot but high def recording takes up more room.

It would be useful to be able to add disk space.

AFAIK HDTV won't take up much more space as they are going to use the more
efficient MPEG4 compression rather than the current MPEG2.

Hence the reported 250GB HDD in the HD box (and MP4 algorithms)

It's 300gb.
160gb for the consumer
140gb reserved for Sky (so they can download content whilst you sleep)

I don't think it has been alleged at all.
Some people hope it will - but that's a different thing.

HDD expansion is more likely through the SATA port - More likely than USB as
HDD is the only use of such a port, so why put one on if you don't intend to
use?

Hmm, I was told 160 when I ordered it. I wasn't aware of the MP4
either.

Thanks.

The review in Issue 44 of "What Home Cinema" says there is a USB and SATA port
for exactly this. There's also the option of allowing downloads to portable
players in the future.

HDD expansion is more likely through the SATA port - More likely than USB

Well why not both?
