Default Pioneer class action lawsuit

Anyone interested in joining/organizing a class action lawsuit against
Pioneer Electronics ( USA ) Inc. regarding defective HD projection
monitors manufactured in the past 3 years ( they quit making them!! ),
send an email to with details of problems &
cost to fix them. The repair tech that fixed mine found numerous cold
solder joints and defective ic chips in the convergence circuit and
it's not the first one he's done!! Ford had their Pinto, GM their
Corvair & now this. BTW, mine is an SD-533HD5, but the defects could
affect other models if this is a design/manufacturing flaw.

Why the focus on the past three years? It has been well known since the mid
80s that Pioneer has tended to have lots of problems with ring cracks on
their solder joints on the CRT based RPTV products. I have received
"rebuilt" boards from them that I would not install until reworking dozens
or hundreds of solder joints. Even so, I doubt that they have more problems
overall than most other vendors. Other than that their sets seem to be
pretty reliable. You could find better reasons to sue lots of other
manufacturers. As for the convergence outputs, they have had no more
defects than other manufacturers. They all use the same vendor for nearly
all output ICs, Sanyo.

No, thank you! I have no intention of helping to make filthy rich
lawyers even richer.
You, as a lowly class action litigant might only get $100 or so if
your side wins, while they rake in millions on your complaint,
regardless;-(

And increasing the prices of products to boot ;-(

Well, while it's certainly not the magnitude of corvairs or pintos, there is
a purpose for class actions. Businesses (and their lawyers) love
encouraging the feeble-minded to buy into the "filthy rich lawyer" idea to
protect themselves from having to take responsibility for their own actions.
IF there is a cause of action here, then have at it.

The brainwashing of idiots like tom is a fait accompli. He's willing to
allow mega corporations to take millions of dollars by ripping off consumers
a dime or a dollar or $100 at a time, but heaven forbid someone should work
to make these thieves stop stealing from everyone of us.

Again, I have no idea if there is anything resembling a cause of action
suitable for class action litigation in this specific case, but the blind
hatred of lawyers working on behalf of consumers is ridiculous. Idiots like
Tom will bitch about personal injury litigants not taking responsibility for
their own actions, but when it comes time for big business to take
responsibility it's time to attack the lawyers. Fool!

I guess I'll just go back to Zenith, Viewsonic & Sony brands. I've
got an old Zenith & Sony I just can't kill, so I'll have to give them
to the kids so I have an excuse to get some new gear. ADIOS PIONEER!

Watch out----Sony and Zenith are NOT what they used to be!!

Ask Leonard---

Actually, Sony seemed to hit its low point in product quality in the mid to
late 90s, IMO. I think their current products are quite good.

Zenith, of course, went to crap in the 90s and was bought out by LG
(formerly aka Goldstar). Their quality has recently been on the upswing ,
too, but they are still near the bottom in general.

As for Viewsonic, they have some OK displays, but try to get one serviced
after the warranty is out. Their only solution is to send it back in most
cases. They do not sell parts nor service manuals, nor do they provide any
tech support for anything beyond how to connect the unit.
