I have had my setup running for several years and nothing has been
changed (by me anyway). Yesterday my TV suddenly started switching to standby for no reason. When you switch it back with the remote and press the Sky button it comes back for a variable length of time. This problem started yesterday, with a couple of occurrences in the afternoon and then a whole lot of occurrences in the evening. This morning it is the same, but I have noticed that it doesn't seem to happen while I am on a radio station, only when I am on a TV channel. I have changed batteries in the remote and removed batteries from all the other remotes for DVD, TV etc. All other potential IR sources have been turned off too. Panasonic TV is several years old, but is otherwise fine. Any suggestions ? TIA Roger |

Does anything happen on screen before it goes into standby, like coloured lines or crackling noises? It may be that the tube's going, as mine did last year - the TV was only 5 years old, but gets a lot of use. If it is that, you're looking at either an expensive replacement tube or a whole new TV. Repair was made to "protection circuit" (as best I can translate it from Italian) and cost 40 euros. Protection eh! The engineer didn't wear a dark suit and carry his "tools" in a violin case did he? |
