I have a Panasonic 42PD50U with a built in ATSC tuner. I was receiving KCAL
9.1 fine until last Friday. I keep getting "Poor Signal Quality" on my screen with an 82% signal on the meter. I've checked other reading from the other DT channels and it goes as low as 77%. I'm using a Yagi type UHF antenna and receive most is not all the DT signals in the LA basin and the OC. I was wondering if it was just me or is everyone else not able to receive KCAL 9.1? Thanks in Advance, JW |

Thanks in Advance, JW I wish I had an outdoor antenna, but, being down in San Clemente, I don't know if the signals from all the L.A. stastions would be strong enough to see w/o noise. I get KCAL Channel 9 via Cox Cable, so I'm getting it "2nd hand" you might say. I've not noticed any deterioration of any kind the last several days. Jim |

Jim In 90274 I use an outdoor antenna with no problems including KCAL 9-1. I also have a Samsung at work in 90038. Here I'm using a Silver Sensor inside a block building with a sheet metal roof and still doing OK on KCAL 9-1. GG |

I figured it out, I had to re-scan the channels to get KCAL 9.1 back. You
learn something new everyday. One would assume HD TV is like SD TV as far as tuning, but this is not the case. I had to reprogram my Favorite channels, which sucks coz I only have 30 presets. I'm thinking of setting my TV to only receive HD channels, since most of the channels have an HD counterpart, and some of my VHF channels are not as strong as the DT counterparts. I hope I don't have to do this every time my ATSC tuner loses sync. "Jim" wrote in message ... Hmmm... Maybe I should try a good antenna / pre-amp way down here in San Clemente? I'm about 60 miles from most stations. Gee, if that would WORK, it would be great. I understand that Cox Cable compresses the living daylights out of HD, and that you would see a much better HD picture "OTA?" I wonder if that's true? I did not know that KCAL Channel 9 also transmits in HD? I wonder why Cox Cable does not have it in their lineup? I watch KCAL news quite often; I wonder why they've never mentioned that they are "simulcasting" in HD? Oh well - some of us have to siffer, its our lot in life! ![]() Jim On Mon, 10 Apr 2006 23:05:30 GMT, "Joseph Wind" wrote: I figured it out, I had to re-scan the channels to get KCAL 9.1 back. Jim I believe the gentleman is referring to KCAL's digital channgel. COX doesn't carry it; i.e., no Channel 709. |

Instead they give us that lousy digital version of KOCE (PBS) which repeats endlessly a few programs each day. |
