Dead easy. Just a question of running a cable & screwing an
F-connector on each end of the cable. You can try it before you even
get a card as BBC1/2/3/4 & ITV1/2/3/4 plus other channels do not
require a card.

Is there a chance I could ruin the alignment of the dish? I don't want to
screw up our viewing. Do I need a particular cable?

Yes. It's not just ordinary coaxial like you use for TV aerials. You need to get
one that is designed for satellite. The are various standards & this page has
more information on this than yo probably want to know:-)

Thanks for that. The website is a bit confusing and not greatly laid out
but I figure I need the H109FBL cable with F ends.
I am just unsure about doing it myself. Is it really just a case of
screwing the cable into the back of the LNB? I don't want to be fiddling
with dish alignments or anything.

It should be OK provided whoever did the dish installation tightened the bolts
up properly.

Not forgetting to waterproof the outdoor connection, using the right
tape.

Thanks for the information. At the weekend I will get a ladder up there are
see how stable the dish is and maybe order the cable next week.

Self-amalgamating rubber tape. Also sold for repairing hoses and
suchlike.

A suitable protective rubber boot would also do the trick.

B&Q have all this stuff.

I think the tape is over-rated. I've NEVER used tape and never had a
problem.
