Default Wow, the dish is sturdier than I thought it was

Someone earlier was posting that some cable company was running a very
misleading ad, implying that dbs dishes needed to be re-aimed twice a week.
I hope most people know what a crock of **** that is. Unless you have a
hurricane or something hit your area, a properly installed dish should never
need to be re-aimed.

Well today I was doing some maintenance on the side of my house. I happened
to be between the house and the DirecTV dish, which is mounted to the side
of a deck that sticks out from the house. Long story short, I slipped, and
managed to fall against the dish. I hit the dish with my back hard enough
that it HURT ME, and then I bounced off of it. I'm OK now, by the way.

I was SURE that I'd just lost DirecTV service, and would need to re-aim the
dish. Nope. When I finished my work and got back in the house, my wife was
watching a movie on TMC. I later checked signal strength, and it's showing
96%.

Wow, is all I've got to say. Now I'm not sure that even a hurricane would
be enough to cause the dish to need to be re-aimed. I unfortunately
weigh well over 200 pounds, and the dish was sturdy enough that I bounced
off of it without (seemingly) changing the aim at all. -Dave

Funny. No, I couldn't even blame DirecTV for that. It was my own
carelessness. I got in a hurry and damn near hurt myself. If the dish had
to be re-aimed, I would have -attempted- to do it myself. If I needed to
hire someone to come out and fix it, I wouldn't have felt too bad. It would
have been my fault, after all.

I think I got really lucky. I got nothing more than a couple bruises out of
it. The DirecTV service is still running fine. And that shocked me,
honestly, that the dish could take a pretty solid hit and (seemingly) be
totally unaffected. -Dave
