Hello,
I am thinking of getting SKY+ downstairs and multiroom upstairs. I can see a situation where I record something on the SKY+ box but want to watch it upstairs. Am I correct in thinking this system has no built-in functionality to allow this? I currently have a video sender with remote control 'eye' infra-red retransmitter. Would this be a suitable solution? I am thinking that the output from the SKY+ box downstairs could be 'sent' upstairs, so that it could be watched up there. Will a normal SKY remote operate a SKY+ box, or will I have to take the SKY+ remote upstairs with me each time I want to control the downstairs box from upstairs? Thanks in advance, Al Reynolds |

Thanks in advance, Al Reynolds The standard remote won't work for SKY+ , but you could get one of these... http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...ote&d oy=28m2 Cheers, Colin. |

It's missing all the vital buttons! Cheers, Colin |

I wasn't aware of any different versions all digibox remotes that I have seen appear identical. http://www.satcure.couk/tech/digicode.htm The URL works better if you put a dot between the co & uk Evidently the different versions just have extra codes for more TVs. It's a pity that the remote isn't upgrade able. -- Nigel Barker Live from the sunny Cote d'Azur |

Am I correct in thinking this system has no built-in functionality to allow this? Yes. Do you really want multiroom, I wonder? This is only useful if you want to watch one thing downstairs and another upstairs *at the same time*. Otherwise it is a complete waste of money. I am thinking that the output from the SKY+ box downstairs could be 'sent' upstairs, so that it could be watched up there. Does this provide what you need? If so then cancel the multiroom (this will save you £10 per month) and use your video-sender on the new Sky+. Will a normal SKY remote operate a SKY+ box, Only partially, if at all. or will I have to take the SKY+ remote upstairs with me each time I want to control the downstairs box from upstairs? Just buy another Sky+ remote. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. Agreed, but we do often watch different non-terrestrial channels on the two sets at the same time. Thanks for the comprehensive answers, Al |

This doesn't seem to agree with what you described as your current system (one digibox with a videosender). You cannot watch two different sat channels at the same time with that. Hence my question as to whether what you currently have is enough for you. Perhaps you meant that you do often *want* to do this, rather than you do often do this? -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. Currently we have Telewest Cable with two boxes (£15 pcm for box 2!) We are moving to a non-telewest cable area in the next month, so thought I ought to work out the Sky situation. The digisender we only had so that my wife could watch live Big Brother in the bedroom off the internet feed on my PC without having to put up with adverts at ridiculous volume every 10 minutes! Al |
