Hi there
I am about to get sky plus and obviously the remote controls are different, but will an old sky remote change the channel on the sky plus box? The reason I ask is I just bought a new remote so i could use the magic eye thing i have in my bedroom, and am wondering if it will still work the basic commands or if i have to buy a second sky plus remote This doesnt seem to be directly addressed in Jomtien's FAQ, so perhaps it could be added? cheers ed |

Otherwise it seems rather pointless having the TVLink at all. This doesnt seem to be directly addressed in Jomtien's FAQ, so perhaps it could be added? I specifically avoided having Sky+ questions in the FAQ as they were previously covered elsewhere. As this is no longer the case I may have to think about including more Sky+ questions. I don't think that this one qualifies as being "frequent" though. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. No, not pointless. Assume for a moment I dont watch much tv in the bedroom, so simple channel changing using the old remote would suffice. I could always take the sky+ remote upstairs if i needed to. But the woman at sky assured me it would work. I told her that general consensus was that it wouldn't, but she said consensus was wrong. So I'll call her back when the box is installed and ask for a free sky+ extra remote. I'm a Sky VIP now apparently, having won a competition for a year free Sky+. |

You speak as someone who doesn't have a PVR. My Tivo is piped to my bedroom. I don't watch much there but I do watch something or another every night. I can't imagine being able only to change channels and not to use the PVR functions. It would be silly. What I want to watch is rarely what is being broadcast at the time. When you have had your PVR for a while you will discover that you no longer watch live TV at all. You will record everything and replay it, which allows you to fast forward through all the dross (adverts, intros, outros, credits, prologues, epilogues, recaps, precaps, announcements etc. etc.) thus saving a lot of time and dead brain cells. I estimate that I fast forward through about 30% or more of every recorded item, on average, even on non-commercial channels. Also you will find that the pause button is handy, even in the bedroom. You should invest £15 in a spare Sky+ remote. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. I have a brand new white/grey sky remote. Are you saying I need to reprogramme it like you do to make it work your tv, or does it transmit dual codes? |

But it still won't operate the record functions etc. This seems to be a complete waste of time to me. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. I never expected it would. |
