Default SIGNAL STRENGTH/QUALITY

I've had freeze-up and channels unavailable today.

I have a Thomson box. The signal test function (which shows bar graphs)
shows signal strength of about 70%, signal quality of about 40%. Is
this poor? Should I get my dish realigned?

Yes.

Should I get my dish realigned?

Yes.

It may be a faulty LNB or tuner also.

My dual feed signal quality has been fluctuating recently. I have
typically seen around 70% for both but late last night, Input 1 dropped
to 30%. This morning it's back up to 70% (actually fluctuating between
60 and 70%) but Input 2 has now dropped to 50% and steady. Last night's
drop caused heavy pixellation and skipping on the channel I was
watching (Challenge 121/poker) but didn't seem to impact upon the
'bigger' channels.

The weather here has been good and dry while the fluctations have been
going on and all my connections are sound.

Is this degree of variation in signal quality to be expected?

A 10% variation is not unusual.
