Default Copy DVR recording to VHS. Time Warner NYC.

hi,
I've got a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD. I have Time Warner Road
Runner cable in New York City. I believe they do NOT use the Scientific
Atlanta software.

How can I transfer a DVR recording to a VHS tape?

This is what I have tried so far:
1. Connect 8300HD Out 2 to VCR in. Play the DVR recording while setting
the VCR to record. Used RCA cables. I don't have S video connection on old
VCR.
2. Abandon RCA cables and try coax. Connect 8300HD cable out (coax) to VCR
in (Antenna coax). Play DVR recording and set VCR to record.
3. Look up instructions on Scientific Atlanta's web site. The Explorer
user guide has detailed instructions here, page 42 of the brochure (pg 45 in
the PDF)
http://www.scientificatlanta.com/Exp...ed/4003870.pdf

Here are the highlights:
(connect 8300HD Out 2 to VCR)
1. Choose the DVR recording you want to copy by using the Select button.
2. On the screen you will get some options, Play, Erase, Keep Longer, etc.,
and Recorded Program Options.
3. Select Recorded Program Options and then choose "Copy to VCR" option.

Well, the thing is, I can SEE a "Record Options" select but it is greyed out
so I cannot select it. Scientific Atlanta notes on their site that some
cable companies use other software so not all options are available. I
think this is case with Time Warner in NYC.

Any one in NYC have advice on how to copy a DVR recording to VHS?

Thanks,
Rogue Petunia
