everyone trying to make it so. I had never heard the word before I
moved back to the north east and now everyone uses it.

I think it was Liverpool who called them Pikies or something? In West
yorks the neighbours kids fitted the description but they didn't seem
to have any particular label - apart from KAPPA! :O))
