My customer bought two of those little DTT receivers that are built onto a
scart plug. All was well at first but after a week both declared 'no signal' on BBC1 only. A retune gave 'no channels found' but in fact all channels would then be present incl. BBC1 -- but not for long. Both units ran very hot. On contacting John Lewis the customer was told that all these units had been recalled "due to a software fault." JL have supplied replacement DTT boxes with cash adjustment. Bill |

Bill I can't say that I've noticed any real issue, other than oddly, I will get a momentary audio loss whenever one of those BBC1 adverts plays - the blokes in the wheelchairs, etc. The unit does run warm, but I wouldn't say hot. Now and again the unit will lock up when in standby, so a power cycle is needed, but as the thing is in the kitchen it's not a big issue. Those grumbles aside, everything seems fine, but now you've got me worried! I've had my unit for well over a month now. Perhaps there's a duff batch doing the rounds. Any more details/info. would be most welcome. Clem |

The very design of the dongles was suspect from the start. It could be done, with only minor modifications, but it needs someone with experience of such stuff and that probably excludes those with a licence to produce. -- John Cartmell [email protected] followed by finnybank.com 0845 006 8822 Qercus magazine FAX +44 (0)8700-519-527 www.finnybank.com Qercus - the best guide to RISC OS computing |
