HD setup - new

A friend just got a new HD PVR from the cable company (Rogers in
Canada) and he is having problems setting it up. He says he is getting
the sound fort he Digital channels but the picture is just flashing on
for a second and then the picture goes black.
Any ideas as to what it is? Is there some settings on the TV that have
to be changed? Could it be the component cables or the component input
on the TV?
Any ideas?

Just a wild guess without any model numbers to go by. Sounds like he's set
the output to the TV to a resolution his TV won't support. You might get a
better response if you give the make/model of the PVR and TV.
