Default quick answer needed tube warranty on a Panasonic TX-36PD30

I think the tube has just blown :-( Its about 2 years old. Anyone know off
the top of their head how long the tube is covered for?

all devices in the EU have a 2 year warrenty. Outside that they have an
"acceptable use" warrenty which means that basically, a TV which breaks
after 2 years is unacceptably broken and is a manufacturers fault not the
consumers..

Sat with my family and there is a large bang followed by the screen going
black and nasty buring smell.

Sat with my family and there is a large bang followed by the screen
going black and nasty buring smell.



Actually that sounds like the flyback transformer has blown - these can be
replaced by a TV engineer. It might be worth geting an engineer to look at
it. Many will come out to you & there is usually no callout charge for the
initial consultation. I have a 32" Widescreen TV & it cost £120 for a new
transformer. TV is perfect now - much cheaper than replacing the TV.
I would not recommend anyone try to replace this themselves - you need to
know what you are doing - there are thousands of volts involved with
flyback transformers.

In the end some guys from a Panasonic service centre picked it up and it was
a transformer. It was fixed and returned for about £150. Still disappointing
for a TV of that value though.
