Am thinking of ditching BY.... increasingly unhappy with TV performance and
poor customer care.As SKY users, how do you rate the service (waiting time
for engineer to be available if required, outage frequency etc....)
Regards

Sky customer service can be a nightmare to get through sometimes, though I
often get through within minutes, this isn't because I have a problem, but
want to adjust my package, or try and get half price subscription out of them.
Waiting time for an engineer depends on your area. You have to remember with
a Sky Digital system you own it from day 1, within the first 12 months you are
covered for any call outs, after this Sky are likely to charge £65 which
covers all work and parts, though often you can get them to waive the charge.

With regard to outage, there isn't really any really, there hasn't been in the
7 years I have been a digital subscriber with Sky. A channel may have
technical problems, but that is the channel themselves and you would see it on
all networks - the "Sorry we have a technical fault" type problem, but nothing
to do with the satellite signal, that hasn't happened, though I think once
there was a problem with one broadcaster, they had problems sending their
signal to the uplink provider, unlike cable which is forever having problems.

I have both TW TV and Sky Digital - TW as it came free with the broadband and
made the subscription £5/month cheaper, Sky Digital is a much easier system to
use, has a 7 day EPG unlike TW up to 24hr EPG.

There are some people who have problems with losing some channels, but this
isn't the satellite signal, it is due to their dish not being correctly
aligned, or their LNB becoming faulty.

Before you sign up to SKY, give TW and ask to go to cancellations. They
will offer you discounts to keep you and they will match any offer you
can get from SKY.
