Default Thin Lines on TV

Here's a question I'm hoping some TV techs out there can provide some
insight on. I purchased the Sony KD-30XS955 back in November. I've
noticed that when the picture is extremely dark or when there is no
signal on the various inputs (and the screen is black/dark blue) there
are some very thin lines running diagonally across the screen. What can
be causing this? I'm hoping that I don't have to have this TV serviced
right out of the box (I got a deal through a Sony employee, so I can't
return it, but I have the full warranty).

Could be retrace lines. They are generally a result of having the screen
voltage set too high ( a service adjustment).

If you are technically capable you may remove the back panel and lower the
screen setting just enough to et rid of the retrace lines. The setting will
be moderately critical, too high and the lines will be more pronounced, too
low and the overall picture quality will suffer, distorted colour, tracking,
etc. Not technically inclined, have a technician adjust it for you.
